The Southam Melody Makers and the Royal Naval Association Mens Choir sang at the Northgate Methodist Church on Saturday evening of the 17th Oct, the evening was a great success, musical director for the RNA choir Steve Height performed 2 solo items and it was also a treat to listen to young solo trombone player George. The concert raised over £400 for the League of Friends for Warwick Hospital.
Summer Wedding 2015
The choir was so happy to sing at a local wedding – our singers included the proud mother of the beautiful bride! The wedding was at Southam’s Warwick House, which was not only a beautiful venue but also wonderfully handy for us all. We had a wonderful day and enjoyed every minute!
This summer the choir celebrated five years of performing and rehearsing. We have welcomed some lovely new singers along the way, who have joined the original members who are still coming along on Wednesdays during school terms to practice old pieces and learn new songs.
This term we had a surprise: a guest conductor was invited to put us through our paces. Some of us found learning new pieces by ear, with no music to rely on, very challenging but it was all good fun and extremely enjoyable. We rounded the term off with a fundraising produce sale with some lovely items: home made, home grown or home baked.
Our hardworking committee continue to put in so much effort to ensure the choir goes from strength to strength. Thanks to all of them and to Alison our tireless director!
Why not come and join us in September at Southam Primary School 7.30 every Wednesday in term time – we are very friendly and you will get a warm welcome!
Southam Carnival Parade 2015
As usual the Melody Makers put in a tremendous effort to join in the Carnival Fun in May: this year’s theme was Superheroes and Villains and the choir decided to take the villainous option of Pirate outfits! The Choir are always keen to support local events and welcome invitations to perform their latest repertoire.
